MeetingStar offers a "DJ Mode" that lets you play audio (e.g. MP3 files) to the other participants of a meeting. Please be aware of the legal implications before using it.
As the meeting organizer, you are obliged to comply with the laws applicable in your own country whenever you broadcast copyright-protected material to other participants. The legal requirements and the responsible collecting societies differ from country to country, and it is your responsibility to inform yourself about and adhere to the rules that apply to you.
Playing protected music to other participants is, from a copyright perspective, comparable to broadcasting like a radio station. It constitutes a public communication of the work. This is only lawful if you hold the necessary rights or licenses for the content you play. In Germany, for example, the following recommendation applies:
You must therefore either (a) only play content that is free of third-party copyright (e.g. your own works, public-domain works, or music explicitly licensed for this kind of use), or (b) correctly register and license your broadcasts with the responsible collecting society — in Germany this is GEMA, in other countries the corresponding organization.
You are solely and fully responsible for the content you broadcast through DJ Mode. MeetingStar is a neutral technical service provider and neither monitors nor licenses the music you play. Before DJ Mode opens, you must confirm that you have read and understood this notice. Any liability for copyright infringements arising from content you play lies entirely with you, and you agree to indemnify MeetingStar against any third-party claims resulting from such use.
